How much you know Scuba Diving?

This post is going to introduce scuba diving which is my favorite hobby! In many people’s minds, scuba diving is a high-risk aerobic exercise or sports. However, do you try to understand the procedure or safety measures before underwater?

First, I am going to introduce you to watch the following video related to the scuba gear that keeps you safe underwater. As a scuba diving beginner, you should first familiar with your gear.

This video mainly introduces scuba gears of mask, snorkel, fin(full-feet and the open one) , regulators (sometimes I call it octopus as it looks like an octopus with four plastic throats), BCDs – buoyancy control device (wings style and jacket style), and wet suit. I personally suggest that a beginner should use jacket style BCDs which is better for them to learn how to control the buoyancy.

For a beginner to learn scuba diving, I always suggest them to buy their mask and fin first instead of buying the whole set of gear. since not everyone of them know which scuba gear best suit them and which one is more suitable for them or easy for them to control.

Next, eliminate your doubt of Scuba diving…

Two of the questions beginners always ask:

Q1: What if I can’t breath underwater? Am I going to die if there’s no oxygen in my tank?

First, there are different types of scuba diving. I mean there are people mainly do leisure diving, hunting, or photos taking etc. For beginners, they will learn how to dive safely when doing leisure diving. The basic knowledge of open water (beginner) is to know how to check the content of gas inside the tank by using the gage on the regulator. Moreover, every dive we must set off with a buddy. If, unfortunately you are out of air, your buddy can use his/her spare regulator to provide you air. What I’ve just mentioned is “safe". So, we all need to buddy check the content of gas constantly.

Q2: I always heard the news about some sickness because of scuba diving, what is it about and why would it happened?

What people always concerned is “decompression sickness" underwater or after scuba diving. It happened if a diver tries to surface too quickly. The dissolve nitrogen comes out of solution inside the body in the form of bubbles. These bubbles may commonly cause joint pain and itchy rash skin. It is dangerous if surface too quickly. To avoid it, it is suggested to surface underwater no more than 9 meters every minutes.

What is good about scuba diving?

As a female I can say, scuba diving helps you keep a healthy body and body figure!

Since scuba diving is aerobic exercise and is underwater, the energy consumption is higher than on land because of water current. Your blood circulation is better to improve underwater as you are exposed to pressure gradient, how much your body muscles are working, how better your blood circulation is improved!

Besides, this is the biggest reason for me to learn scuba diving – it relieves stress! You know, people in Hong Kong work under stress, live under stress, even go to school under stress! This is the best way to relieve yourself underwater by seeing the colorful reefs and fishes. This is a quiet place in which you could calm yourself.

What’s more, after learning scuba diving you could dive around the world to discover nature underwater. I have been visited Philippine, Thailand, and Hainan Island after learning scuba diving. And I have got a scuba diving instructor license when I am 18! Trust me, scuba diving is fun!

Let me share some of the photos during the trip in Philippine.

Here is one of the photo I took underwater with my boyfriend in Bohol Island, Philippine!
The middle one is me!! Can you see my smile face?
